The Parish Awakens - The Power of Email Subscriptions

Vibrant Newsletter Tips – July 26, 2016 – Email Subscriptions can build a more Vibrant Parish

I remember when I first saw the Broadway musical Cats and felt completely lost by the subject matter.  Then I read T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Curious Cats, on which the play is based.  When I saw Cats for the second time a year later, I found myself singing to the lyrics and feeling like I was a part of the performance even from the 15th row!

Since trying to be a more intentional Catholic, I do the same thing for mass.  My weekly Parish newsletter gets emailed to me, and I look up the listed readings so that I can prep myself and my family for the upcoming mass.  I know many churches in Ireland include the readings verbatim in their weeklies, so emailing it to interested parishioners can result in a more heightened attendance at mass.

For our member churches, we post the newsletters on their respective pages on Parishesonline.com as early as Thursday prior to the weekend mass.  The page also includes a free email subscription button, but some of our churches choose to email PDFs of the newsletter to their parishioner list.  Either way, the email subscription is an effective tool for engaging parishioners before they walk into the church, and can even alert them to events and special collections taking place on that weekend.

You can promote the newsletter email subscription from the pulpit, signage / sign-up sheet in your foyer and pastoral centre, and in the newsletter itself!

Whether you are one of our member churches or are looking for a fresh approach to your newsletter, we’d love to hear from you! Email us atdbrowne@4lpi.ie or call 01-901-5800.
